What is Kudu and how does it work?
Kudu is a payments platform that connects the African diaspora in Europe with Africa, letting you send and receive money, get paid with a link, buy together for less, and keep money secured in on-chain escrow on Stellar — all in one app. It operates in up to 165+ countries with regulated stablecoins (USDC & EURC) that settle instantly on the Stellar blockchain, keeping crypto invisible to you.
How much does it cost to send money with Kudu?
Transfers between Kudu accounts are free, and receiving money is free. You pay when money enters or leaves the network: adding money costs about 1.5% (the conversion partner's rate) and cashing out with a verified agent costs 0.5% (minimum €0.30). End-to-end the total stays under 3%, versus the 8.78% average across Sub-Saharan Africa. There are no monthly or setup fees, and the fee is always shown before you confirm.
How fast does money arrive when I send it?
Money arrives in minutes, not days: you send it, the fee is deducted, and the recipient can spend, send on, or cash out immediately. The page shows an example of EUR 500 sent from France to Senegal arriving as XOF in ~2 minutes.
Is my money actually safe with Kudu's escrow?
Yes — the buyer's funds are locked in on-chain escrow on Stellar until both sides are satisfied under terms you set yourself. The buyer pays in, the money stays locked on-chain while the seller delivers, the buyer confirms receipt, and then funds release automatically to the seller on the agreed terms (on delivery, in milestones, or by mutual agreement).
Which countries can I send to and receive from with Kudu?
Kudu covers up to ~70 countries to add money and 165+ countries to cash out, across Europe and Africa. You can fund transfers via MoneyGram (partner, for cash top-up or payout), Transak (card/bank), or your own bank and card.
Can I cash out my money or get paid in my local currency?
Yes — Kudu has a marketplace of verified, rated cash agents you can deposit with or withdraw from, all protected by escrow. Currency conversion between EUR, USD and CFA happens at the rate shown before you confirm — one clear cost, so you always know what you'll receive in your local currency.
