How it works

Simple by design.

1

Start or join a buy

Open a group buy for what you need — coffee, rice, phone stock — and share it, or join one a friend has already started.

2

Fill the group

As more people commit, the price ticks down for everyone. A live gauge shows exactly how many have joined and what unlocks next.

3

Everyone pays less

When the group hits its target, the lower price locks in and each person is charged the same discounted amount. That's it.

Why it's better

Built around the outcome.

Wholesale power for everyone

Small buyers rarely get bulk prices. Pooling orders through Kudu puts wholesale rates within reach of a household or a street.

Fair and transparent

Everyone in the group pays the same unlocked price — no favourites, no fine print. You see the tiers before you commit.

Community by design

Buying together is how markets have always worked in Africa. Kudu just makes it work across a phone and across borders.

Frequently asked

Answers to the common questions.

How does Kudu group buying actually work?
You start or join a group buy for what you need, and as more people commit, the price drops for everyone. When the group hits its target, the lower price locks in and each person is charged the same discounted amount.
Why does the price drop as the group fills up?
Kudu pools small buyers together to unlock wholesale rates that were previously only available in bulk. The more people join, the larger the combined order becomes, so suppliers lower the price for everyone.
What happens if the group doesn't reach the target number?
If the group doesn't hit its target, your money stays locked in on-chain escrow on Stellar and you are refunded in full — the group simply doesn't activate until it reaches the threshold needed to unlock the better price.
When am I actually charged — when I join or when the group fills up?
You are charged only when the group reaches its target and the discounted price locks in. Until that point, you've committed to the buy but no payment is taken from your account.
Is my money safe while it's pooling in the group?
Yes — your funds are locked in on-chain escrow on Stellar via Secure Deals, so your money is protected until the group reaches its target and the transaction completes.
Can I see the group filling up and the price dropping in real time?
Yes, a live gauge shows exactly how many people have joined and what price tier unlocks next, so you can watch the discount grow as more people commit to the buy.
What's the difference between a groupement d'achat and Kudu's group buying?
A traditional centrale d'achat takes ownership of the order and resells it to members. Kudu's group buying works differently — a groupement d'achat model — where everyone keeps control of their own individual order and payment; Kudu just pools the negotiating power and holds every buyer's share in escrow.
What happens to my money if the group doesn't fill up in time?
If the group doesn't reach its target before the deadline, you're refunded in full automatically — your share was locked in escrow the whole time, not handed to the organiser or seller.
